Summary

Khmer Akphiwat Khmer Organization (KAKO), our partner in Cambodia, is active in community development and non-formal education initiatives with an outreach to some of the poorest villages in the province of Siem Reap.

The Flying Nuns is a Dutch foundation focused on helping underprivileged children in every corner of the world. After learning about Philanthropy Connections through our Facebook page, Flying Nuns Chairwoman Alexandra Janse contacted us and we connected them to KAKO.

After being put in touch, Mrs. Alexandra Janse travelled to Siem Reap to visit the target villages and made a generous donation.

Background

Philanthropy Connections and KAKO share a common goal of creating opportunities for families to live independent lives and overcome poverty. We support KAKO in several of their education and sanitation-focused initiatives.

Some of these projects are focused on reducing illiteracy through village libraries, giving children an opportunity to stay in school through scholarships, providing access to preschools in remote villages and improving poor sanitation conditions by building toilets.

Goals and Results

In 2014 The Flying Nuns donated funds to a number of KAKO projects. The donation helped fund the installation of three toilets and four wells, home renovations for a poor family and the purchase of water filters, library books and school supplies.
