Free Food Campaign

Here in Chiang Mai the local population is much more dependent on tourist income and casual labour than most other Thai cities. The recent pandemic lockdown has brought many people to the brink of desperation. It is estimated that 100.000 people are now unemployed with no financial safety net and none likely in the near future.

Together with Monsoon Tea, we decided to help as well. Monsoon Tea prepares and distributes the food, they reach out to the local community and we assist in any way we can with setting it up, publicising it and trying to find sponsors willing to support this urgent initiative.

For 10 years now, PCF has helped create opportunities for tens of thousands of beneficiaries. Currently we have 30 active projects (including emergency projects), but only 8.6 permanent team members. With very little overhead, we work hard for the thousands of people we support.

We need your help to fund our general donation pool – to cover shortfalls in our long term projects; to ensure we can quickly respond to emergency needs (in parallel with projects that address long term needs); and to help keep the “lights on”.

We frequently post on Facebook about the small but essential projects that these donations support. See the latest impacts here.

We want to give back to the communities that have hosted us with such kindness.

The Thai communities often have their own language. Therefore, when the kids get into higher education, they often drop out due to a lack of understanding the Thai language. We want to support their education by raising money to hire a teacher who has the ability to speak and teach both languages. And, as a result, greatly increasing their chances of getting an education.
